Have been having some worrying conversations with frontline child protection and LAC social workers about the current cuts and the impact it's having on child protection thresholds ie pressure on social workers to downgrade cp cases to child in need cases or to return children in care back to birth families when there are still high risks .

Is this widespread? Aware that some might feel uncomfortable posting on a forum- if so we have compiled a completely anonymous survey. Emerging findings from the first 100 or so people who have responded are pretty disturbing.

It has always been like that. It has nothing to do with current savings.

Second that.

Where the cuts are biting is in placement choice and meeting needs of looked after children - placement + therapy. I notice our chums in the private sector havent dropped their prices.
