I think average MA Student age is a little higher (or they certainly looked older when they conbined us with the MA's for the odd sesh), on my BA course I would say the average age was about 30 - small numbers in their late teens/very early 20's and odd few in their 50's - don't think there was anyone in their 60's.

Important to get some real life experience prior to entering social work. I think that 30 is a far better age.

Hi,

I was 18 when I started on my social work degree. I'm now 21 and due to graduate this summer. I'd say at least half of my course are in their 20's/30's although there are some older. Don't let people put you off by saying you need more life experience-just because you're young does not mean you have not faced your own challenges and experience - and sometimes it can be an advantage to be a bit younger.

Good luck with everything :)
