Just the begining.
I think the minimum of 10 years sentence for the stepfather for raping a two year old girl is way too lenient. I think this is worse than many murders and the sentence should reflect this. The girl will have this experience with her for the rest of her life and it will effect everything she does. His 12 year sentence for his part in Baby P's death is also way too low in my book. I think he should have got life for each of these acts let alone combined.

Both crimes involved significant deception and cunning, but which one is worse!!!
My faith in justice continues to diminish rapidly.

This country's justice system stinks
Sadly I feel this may not be the end of media focussing on the not so good things about Social Work. The positive work that the majority of workers do never gets published it does not sell papers. There is a cry from government that SSD needs to continue to improve its CP procedures, however you never hear of the same Gov't or any Gov't stomping up the cash to help. Sadly we will get things wrong at times (not excusing what happened to this child and many others ok), because everyone is stretched to the limit, newly or qualified still continue to carry CP cases with lack of supervision and recuitment is not good certainly now hampered by media coverage. Who in their right mind would want to come into a profession now where you are 'damed if you do and damed if you don't'?
Many in my L.A are leaving in droves to work in a less pressured environment for more pay. I wish more was done by the powers that be (in Westminster) to make this a much better profession. I for one am proud of what we do because SW's and others in the organisation do some brill pieces of work.
