    Big Brother 9

Big Brother will be hitting our screens in June - will you be tuning in or turning off?

Deffo no. I did think writing to the producers suggesting they spice it up by basing the trials/games on De Sade. Each programme they could act out a day from "120 Days of…".

See how far they could go. BB could leave out the murders just feature the urophilia, scatology, whippings, torture and violence.

See how much pain/humiliation people would put up with just to be a C list celebrity (that's C in the cyrillic alphabet).

I haven't seen a single edition of Big Brother so this will be a good opportunity for me to find out what all the fuss is about and join in the daily conversations had by my colleagues and diminishing band of friends. Bring it on I say because it is quite obvious that I need something to end this social exclusion.

    Re: Big Brother 9

I watched the first few series avidly and have a weakness for non-intellectual *cough* television programming but have become increasingly annoyed/bored by Big Brother as the contestants have become more 'wacky' and knowing. I haven't watched the last two series and can't see myself even watching the beginning of this one..

I love Big Brother.  However much I hate most/all of the contestants, I still get hooked every year!

och naw unless I'm really bored. It's just full of sad naive wannabes who have little idea about real life or the consequences of exposing themselves to the producers and subsquently national tv (governed by these producers).

However I would audition if only to give the subtitles chap something to do (fill me with coffee and I'm as high as a kite and speak like a bullet train LOL) but I don't think they take you if you have a severe and endurin mental disabilty. Shame. The subtitles could be fun ;)

I turned off last series due to the fact it left such a bad taste in my mouth as channel 4 is abusing extremely vulnerable individuals in the name of entertainment. I feel that we should make a stand on this subject and turn off. How can we take pleasure out of this programme and discuss it as a joke when we do the jobs that we do.

Maybe we should put the producers in the house and torture them.

    Re: Big Brother 9

I'm like you Mandy, I do tend to get addicted to all sorts of "tv programmes" that other people would probably, quite understandably, dismiss as trash. I think, oh, I'll just see what the house mates are like, complain about them all, and then continue to watch it avidly.

However I totally agree with what you say Lins that increasingly there are vulnerable people in the house who probably shouldn't be there and certainly shouldn't be there as "entertainment".

I also think contestants are getting wise to what works in the house. Allegedly Brian's (last year's winner) mum said he wasn't like the person shown on the programme but had recorded all the previous series' and worked out what worked best in winning over the viewers.

I'm sure there are a few people who we could put in the Big Brother house and watch them squirm if we were being really awful (cue dracula style laugh) any suggestions??

I love |Big Brother but havent enjoyed the last 2 as much as before. I dont believe anyone on it has been vulnerable...greedy yes......attention seeking yes....but not vulnerable. They are all adults and choose to go on the show although by the time they come out they are probably ready to be sectioned. I even watched the USAs Big Brother....absolute rubbish.

My friends - and colleagues - think I'm a bit of an attention seeker but in comparison to the likes of Nikki and Charlie I think I'm quite an introvert!

So USA BB wasn't as good as our home grown version?

So anne_m123 you dont think that people with eating disorders are vulnerable or people with disabilities can be seen as being vulnerable interesting

I watched the first one because i thought it was an interesting experiment! Throwing all these strangers together to live and share a house for weeks on end, i thought, gave me insight into perhaps enforced social living like a residential home. However, once you have seen it i can not see the point of a repeat experience. I now think that the Simpsons gives me more insight into others lives! Big brother=big bore.

I do watch it as there are some interesting bits, I do think that the Housemates think they have "made it" when they get on the show- It would be better to have a BB "older" much more interesting.
