I dont think this is anything particularly related to working in the social work profession more just a symptom of the general financial state of the country and the banks at the moment. People are struggling to extend their overdraft or get bank loans no matter what their profession.

I think Shirack may be referring to the hypocrisy of social workers taking out pay day loans when we preach against their 'evils' to our service users. But I may be wrong.

I suppose it is kind of like telling people to lay off the drink whilst nursing the hangover from the previous evening's bottle of wine.

My train of thought is that it's about hypocrites, spirituality and BASW.......Tongue Tied

I think increasingly aspects of the nine circles of hell can be recognised in many  local authorities.

Not mine of course, which is excellent. The majority of the time.

Lucky you Hatgirl. Better stay where you are....chances are it's the only one of excellence in existence.

Rupert? What's your take on it please?

It has it's problems like everywhere else and certainly there are the bad apples, but overall I think it has good leadership for adult social care. I think that is high praise in the current climate.

As for pay day loans - people get into debt for all sorts of reasons, just because we are social workers does not mean we are not real humans with actual lives despite what the daily mail would have most believe. People must be desperate to borrow at an interest rate of over 1000% !

Looks like the usual BASW scaremongering to me. Anything to drum up business by that bunch of opportunists to put it another way.

Last time I looked I was paying quite a lot for my water and I had to consult with the bank manager before I paid for my prescription; but I get your point.
