I am currently completing a piece of work which involves reflecting on a piece that was in the Guardian a few years a go. The article is called 'Diary of a Desperate Daughter' and can be found here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2006/jun/17/family.family
We are supposed to write a 'reflective account relating social work values to practice through the inclusion of a critical appraisal demonstrating service users' and carers' perspectives'. I believe we are supposed to apply ethical principles and theories of anti-oppressive practice to the case study.
I was basically wondering if anyone had read the article or had any tips for completing the work?
Thank you.
I've just quickly skimmed over the article and not read it properly, but the part that jumps out at me is the ethical dilemma of people needing care, but the funding not being available.
I would imagine that in the current political climate your Uni want you to reflect on how the conflict between what you feel the service user needs and what Local Authorities can afford to give them is only going to get worse.
I hope that helps as a starting point!
