Should LA Social Workers be allowed to perform abysmally in one LA and then just be allowed to leave the 'mess' that they have created and move on to another LA? I saw this happen in a LA, where senior managers were forced to look like fools at a tribunal hearing. They had none of the answers to the questions being put to them by the member of the Tibunal Panel, while the Social Worker(s) and one manager who was central to the whole case and could have provided these answers were allowed to move on to other LA's without justifying their actions. I do not think that this is right, not only to the Service User bringing their case to Tribunal, but also to the profession of Social Work as a whole.
Suffice to say the Service User did win the case at the Tribunal.
Senior management should know what is going on in their organisation.
