The father of children who were abused by a teenager placed with the family by Vale of Glamorgan has told local people not to conduct a 'witch hunt' against social services - despite the fact that the council had not told the family of the young man's previous offences.
While not taking on Baby P proportions the case has led to a tabloid furore, including calls for the director of social services to quit. However, the father said in an email to BBC Radio 5 Live
"We can't undo what happened to our children, but what we can do is to try to make sure that this never happens again.
"This is not going to happen if the public continue a witch hunt against social services and continue to bay for the wrong blood."
But Social Service Directors seem incapable of "learning" the lessons when mistakes are made.
In my experience Local Authorities do not handle complaints effectively.
Could you give us an idea of just how extensive your 'experience' is please Smokey.
Cheers,
Stuart
