I am disappointed at the budget yesterday as they did not address fuel costs. This has become a real issues especially for those who work in the Social Care setting as we are the highest users but recieve little in return from our employers to cover actual costs. It is now estimated that we pay £2000 per year out of our own pockets to cover business miles.
I don't know how some employees cope with the raising costs for fuel, the business demands on top of the general rise in living costs is really squezzing us. I know of employees scheduling visits around their affordability. I wonder when we will see a headline in the papers that goes something like this: - Child dies because child protection social worker reschdules visit to next pay day'
I think this is a huge problem which needs addressing sooner rather than later
