Has anyone any experience of reporting health problems to the GSCC?  As outlined and agreed to every time you renew your registration

I've had health problems but continued to work and obviously I  reported them to my employers who did not report them to the GSCC

Can the GSCC decide i'm unfit?? I must stress that my belief is working in CP takes a toll on individuals and should be recognised similarly I dont feel workng in CP has exactly increased my life expectancy.

I contacted the GSCC who simply replied ANY health problems should be reported to them. I guess I'm in breach of that 1/2 years down the line

They said report ANY health problems? I wonder if they'd like to hear about my cystitis. Zip it!

On a serious note, it is a pertinent question that you raise. I haven't had to report any health concerns to GSCC, but I too would be interested to hear the experiences if anyone has.

.Selks

and my ingrowing toenail

but I'm thinkng of a lot of workers i know who are on anti-depressants for example and/or  have been off with stress

GSCC advised me by e-mail

"As per complying with GSCC registration, we should be informed of any change in your health. In response we will send you a form to complete where you will declare that you can manage your health condition.

Information can be passed onto us at time of renewal when completing the declarations section or by self referral. Self referral can be made either in writing or by telephone.

Your employer may decide to inform the GSCC of any health issues if the issues affect your capability to carry out your role. The GSCC accepts referral information from Employers as well as Members of the Public".

Hi Mozza,

Not sure what is happening now but when the GSCC first started to register SW's they were accused of discrimination against workers with mental health problems as they were requesting medical reports for them but not for workers with physical health problems!!!

I think one guy reported a mental llness to them and then had to evidence his fitness to register - he found the whole process so stresful it nearly led to a relapse.

They may have sorted it out by now.

Let's hope - given your GP and  TM are aware of depression/anxiety etc I'm not sure why  it is up to the GSCC to question professional judgements as to your fitness to work
