jobs for NQSW Posted: 14 May 2011 6:33 PM

I graduated last year as a qualified social worker. Since then, i have applied many jobs direct to the employer and registered in many agencies in London.

I found agencies to be very dismissive and undermine the confidence of NQSW.  Many asked question such as 'How many years of post qualifying do you have?. And my answer is 'I have 2 years of placement and personal and life experience which i believe i can contribute in this profession. I have worked abroad with international organization before i went into social work. Also, I have been working as a  volunteer in governing body of my children school. Does this experience count for anything?

I hope fellow social workers who have been practicing for many years will understand me more than this bogus agencies. Please support me in any way you can , as i start to feel so negative about myself. I can not afford to loose faith and confidence in myself. I took me 4 years of studying while continue to do other the most important task in my life of being  single parent to my children.

I have a knowledge of speaking different foreign languages, does this help in the current job situation/market?
