I wanted to make any IROs aware that a mailing list has been set up to help establish a supportive professional network.

The list allows easy and instant communication between IROs across different local authorities. It can be used to: ask questions about practice, policy, or procedures; facilitate case discussions about problem resolution; share new developments; compare working practices across authorities; seek consensus about what constitutes a breach of human rights; share research; or announce conferences and meetings. There is also a regular monthly survey.

If you are an IRO and would like to join the list, please add a reply here and I will make arrangements for you to subscribe.

The list was set up last year by Kirklees Planning, Performance, and Commissioning, and covers 13 local authorities in the Yorkshire and Humber region. It has 60 subscribers - almost two-thirds of the region's IROs. It is a "closed" list in order to allow free debate or discussion of case studies.

A forum on here might be useful, especially as it will include posts from professionals other than IROs. Its success will depend on how may IROs contribute.

Great idea yes I would like to join, also be interested in open forum on carespace. It could be helpful especially in my L.A I don't have direct access to legal advice and have to go via CAFCASS.
