If he is...and he also thinks nurses currently need to be told to talk to patients and listen to them........then what odds is William Hill giving on who Cameron will want to be the lead agency??

( Clue; remember the mantra; "Medical Professionals:-saints; Social Care professionals:-sinners"....[Gospel according to UK media and politicians chapter 1 verse 1])

A 'no brainer' - it certainly won't be Social Care!!!

Felt uneasy to be with Dave on this one but then thought of the 48,000 English nursing posts he is cutting, which made me feel better again.

Remove the lawnmower give em a pair of scissors and expect the job done in half the time.

Seems par for the course for the coalition.

But just like Social Workers, Nurses (and both professions respective senior managers / CEO's, Trades Unions, Professional Associations and Regulatory / Inspection bodies) have all gone along with the 'target culture' rather than putting people first.

Performance Indicators have all too often only measured 'quantity' and not 'quality.' It's OK to try to place the blame 'out there' somewhere but individually and collectively we also have professional / ethical obligations.

So when there is a terrible mess what happens? - Peterborough, for instance, appoints Malcolm Newsam at some £1200 per day through his own Consultancy Company to try to get themselves out of a mess! Marvellous - blooming marvellous - you just couldn't invent it.

The absolute irony is this;

Its only the people who have blustered and networked up their careers presiding over this evolving mess and getting it to the shambles it now is; who are allowed to be in the club of "experts" who are deemed to have a high enough profile in the field (and a long and cosy enough relationship with senior servants)  to  be appointed to advise/lead  on how to reform the system!!

So basically...the bankers are not alone! Our top echelons get rewarded with even higher salaries for the mess they have made too! (I see that smug grin A.B.!!)
