I was just wondering what people thought about some of the focus that has now been applied to social work with adults by the College of Social Work, In Control and, bizarrely, the government. It's all along the theme of liberating/reclaiming practice with adults (as has been claimed for childcare social work through the Hackney model and Munro) through greater emphasis on community development, more professional autonomy and a move away from care management.
We'll know from the government's perspective whether this is something real or just hot air when they publish their White Paper this spring.
Here's a blog post summarising what I know but it would be good to get an idea what people think: opportunity, threat or just words.
