Have people caught the latest figures on personal budget take-up?
They show that numbers in England doubled during the 2010-11 financial year, but that almost all of this increase was in council-managed personal budgets, rather than direct payments.
On one level, this could be seen as positive as there are fears that the government's preference for direct payments could see people placed on these when a council-managed budget may be more appropriate.
However, it has to raise concerns that people are just being given a nominal personal budget without any choice and control over how it is spent - something Adass admits is happening in some areas and which some readers have already identified as happening in their areas (see comments on this blog post).
Does this chime with anyone's experience?
