I have a interview with a child protection team with the LA but am not sure what to do if I get offered the post. The LA has had a bit of bad press, plus not many stars, plus it is likely i will be working in a area with high levels of gun, drugs and knife crime. I am worried about safety issues plus, high level case loads (regardless of Laming recommendations) and the current reputation the LA has. Has anyone had experience of these things and can offer words of advice or am I just over reacting.

My advice don't jump too far ahead. I had an interview last month for part time admin position and I was soo worried about my Uni course and fitting it in and planning to get there that the interview didn't go as planned.

cazcaz, by now you have probbly had the interview and maybe even know the outcome, but you seem to have listed all the negatives pretty succinctly- what are the positives about this job/ LA, apart from the fact that it is paid???

I know it may sound trite, but I do still find that listing the pros and cons of something side by side can help me make a decision when I am dithering.   It's not always just a case of which the longer list is, but the relative importance of the items on each list too, that often helps me think about something more clearly.
