    Seek advices for interview please

Good evening, I am a newly registered GSCC as a social worker. I was graduated 5 years ago in France. I meet lots of difficulties to find a job, I try to find information by myself such as London Child Protection Procedures and Children Act 1989, 2004, but I am surprised by the interview because they only focus on Child Protection and Child protection. My problem is that in France we are a strong and very significant work in prevention to prevent significant harm and neglect and here in London every thing is about child protection (o f course I understand this is the main duty but I am here to learn ). So, I am desperate because even if I have my GSCC the problem is still the same you don't have any UK legislation Knowledges (of course I don't have a job and a training for). On the top of that, I have been contacting universities to enhance my knowledges and skills in child protection but I am no eligible because I need a job to study some caseholds, I am confused and so appalled ! I have been registered by several agencies but I have some doubt about their reliability, some consultants are disloyal, Please if someone could give good advice and some website to prepare my interview as a professional social worker. Thanks very much.

'Noella' - it may be worth your while stating what are your own main areas of interest (such as adoption / fostering / family support / children with disabilities). You are right to point out that there is such an emphasis on Child Protection - in the UK we have moved emphasis over the years to and from Child Protection but it seems to again be more around Child Protection. Part of the problem has been the shortage of qualified social workers and so Child Protection has had to be the priority.

Agencies also need to know which areas of the UK you are able to work in.
