unaccompanied asylum seeking children reform programme

I have just finished writing a feature on the government's resposne to its consultation on reforms to unaccompanied asylum seeking children and while the proposals in the two documents hardly differ the tone is different.

Where as the first document spoke of how unacommpanied asylum seeking children were just as important as other looked after children, despite then going on to propose policies which campaigners argued would create an inferior system, the new document seems to separate them off as a disctinct group a lot more and there is no mention of the every child matters 5 outcomes. Has anybody else got this from the document?

The government seems keen to get them out of here as soon as they arrive. I think they plan to look at abolishing giving under 18s discretionary leave to remain and send them back more quickly. Out of sight, out of mind. They began with dispersing adult asylum seekers a few years ago, now children are going to be treated in the same way - like cattle. I am beginning to think there is no such thing as a fair asylum policy in this country.
