CareSpace in six words? Win an awesome prize

Can you encapsulate CareSpace in six words? If you can you could be in line to win an astounding prize. Yes, it's true - we are designing a CareSpace mug and we are looking for an appropriate slogan to emblazon said drinking vessel. If you come up with the winning slogan you will win one of these highly sought-after mugs. Imagine how impressed your friends and colleagues will be!

Ok, here are the rules. Just suggest a six-word slogan below. The ones we like will get put forward in a poll and CareSpace members will vote on the winner.

Just to get you started, here is my opening slogan salvo:

"Social workers sharing experience and opinion"

Surely you can do better than that?

'Where different social care professionals meet'

'Discussion across all social care professions'

'Expertise and ideas across social care professions'

'Expertise, ideas, & discussion across social care' (hmmm... 7 words....surely & doesn't count does it...)

'Informed discussion across social care professions'

Thank you Simeon2. Actually I think I'm pretty rubbish at marketing - but I do like to put my oar in when something needs to be said. My ideas were all focused on emphasising that the forum isn't just for social workers - but for social care professionals, many of whom aren't social workers. There's something odd which happens which I don't understand - where 'social workers' end up appearing to be the main people involved in social care work. This is strongly reflected in CC (the magazine) - perhaps not so much in the articles, but look at the job adverts at the back...

One reason this bugs me is that many years ago I found myself in a particularly frustrating situation. I wanted (at the time) to have my career progress in the management of services - but job adverts were asking for a social work qualification. So I got myself interviews for social work courses. The first interview led to a rejection - because I'd said honestly that I didn't want to be 'a social worker' but rather to work in the management of services - and this specific thing led them to reject me. It has to be said that in the second interview I lied - I said that I really wanted to be a social worker - and I was offered a place (which I later turned down for something more up my street).

Here's a challenge by the way... How can we have a six word slogan which is just as inviting to a care assistant as to the director of social services.... I got stuck with the word 'professional' and couldn't do much better. Some people might think that this forum is a good place for people to come to only once they are properly educated about this profession - but I have to say that I've met some very wise care assistants in my time...

It has to be said that I'm not entirely sure I need another mug though...!

Cheers Rupert and escargot - good stuff.

RobertW, I think you're right about the need for the forum to welcome workers from across social care, although our main readership has traditionally been social workers.

It's an interesting point about the difference between management and front line work. I think they are two separate sets of skills and many frontline workers complain of not being able to progress their careers without moving into management, so I guess there's no reason why people shouldn't choose to focus on management. Do you think it would be ok for someone to go into management without some experience of frontline work though?

And there's always room in the cupboard for an extra mug!

Personally, I think it's a bit arrogant to think that you can go into management without a proper education in and understanding of the role. Why not do a business or management degree, rather than social work? Besides which: Care Space: Space To Air! Carespace: A place that's ace! Carespace: The forum of choice! Carespace: a refuge for the carers! Carespace: A teabreak for the mind Carespace: All views considered....................and debated!
