    Sir Ian Blair

Sir Ian Blair has finally resigned as head of the Met after being forced to do so by Boris Johnson. While I think this is not before time in my book given the Jean Paul De Menezies case it does feel a bit party political.

Unfortunately, Ian Blair had several years ago aligned himself with Tony Blair, so his demise was inevitable, especially given a series of gaff's and the dreadful debacle over Charles Demenes. Privately the Home Office wanted rid of him, but Jacqui Smith hadn't got the bottle, or the backing from the New Labout elite, to do it. Boris has made his mark!
