    Anxious about re-organisation, any advice?

Q: We've had a reorganisation and instead of now working in a team where my manager and my colleagues all have qualifications and backgrounds in social work and social care, I'm the only person in my new team who has any experience of either. I'm anxious and feeling exposed. Is there anything I can do, or should look to my employers to do, to tackle my professional isolation?"

We will answer this question in the 1 May issue of Community Care. We want to publish readers' advice too - please send it to natalie.valios@rbi.co.uk by Monday 21 April or leave your comments here

Briggers70  I can understand your anxiety. I was in this position many years ago and its not easy. Regular contact with your peers is essential as with your supervising colleague. Ensure you are kept fullyinformed of all developements by attending meetings and networking as much as you can. Assert yourself professionally and you will find your new team will respect you. In my case we had nurses, social workers, physios, OTs,clinical psychologists and consultants  and it is too easy for any dominant character to assert the lead role. Be courteous and speak up for yourself and your profession. Social work is your field of specialism .Dont let anyone take that away from you. Everybodys an expert on everybody elses job these days . Use referrals as an indication of your skills and experience and refer on to tohers as and when you feel its appropriate. Dont worry. You may find that everyone else in the new team is as worried as you are.  Good Luck.
