differences in what constitutes "accetable" behaviour

There is wide variation across the country in employers' guidlines on professional boundareis between social care staff and service users practitioners have said this week at a General Social Care Council conference.

Has anybody found this when working for different local authorities?

My personal gripe with guidelines and policies is that too many employers rely on the concept of "common sense". In my experience I have found common sense to be scarce. Not wishing to see the development of step by step guidelines i.e. idiot proof I ,unfortunately do not see any other way to tackle the issue.
