Hi all
I been offered a place on the MA social work anyone else hear back ?
:)
Hi there I was about to set up a new post on here anyway but saw this one. Although it hasn't quite got started I thought I would get it going hopefully!
Found out last week that I have got onto the MA in Plymouth starting this September :)
Just wondering if anyone else has had the same news - probably most likely other people from the interview on Friday 13th?
Very excited, now just trying to get my head around the funding side of things and what we are eligible for? There was another post on here regarding loan application for student finance as well as the NHS bursary, but it sounds as if eligibility was a little hit and miss!

Is there anyone waiting to hear from Plymouth like me?
Hi
I put my ucas in early November and Heard in December and then had my interview and heard 5 days later ish including the weeknd
well done emily will be joining you in september I think I remeber you were on my interview section it is claire I am already doing a degree. It was a surprse when I got offered a place must of done well in the interview.
Hi both
Yes Claire I do believe we had lunch together! Yes really pleased and now continuing with my job but nice to know I will be moving onto something new - it will come around quite quickly I think.
Like Claire I think I applied early November, heard mid-late December and had an interview on 13th January.
Claire do you have any idea what the start date is as they spoke of an induction week at interview??
Hope you hear from Plymouth soon Belles99 - they were the slowest to respond in comparison to other universities, so perhaps their admissions is a little slower/they have more applications?
Thanks, Emily
Emily and Claire, thanx a lot for your replies. I'm desperately trying not to go insane, hope I hear from them soon. It took my referee 2 months to do my reference, otherwise I would have put in my application early as well.
If you don't mind me asking, what did the interview consist of and how long did it take?
Thanx
Niki
This year we started the week beginning 19th sept, and roughly that time the year before, so it will be about that time next year.
I've heard from Plymouth. I've got an interview on the 16th of Feb. I'm so happy and nervous at the same time. Any tips?
Well done! Such a relief when the waiting is over.
All I would say is be yourself. I didn't do very much preparation as I didn't want to feel over prepared and not be myself on the day, but I had a good understanding of why I wanted to be a social worker, what a social worker does, and how my current work experience would help towards this and felt comfortable being reflective. Do a bit of reading around some current issues maybe - this website is good.
Don't overload yourself, you will only feel more nervous.
Emily :)
thanx Emily. I'm so relieved and nervous at the same time. I'll take your advice and not over prepare because I think I'm at risk of doing that. First of all though, I need to watch that BBC documentary. I was at work so I missed it, I'm watching it on iplayer right now.
I will let you know how I get on. Fingers crossed.
Hi Emily
Well done only just seen message I think we start 17th September recieved my letter and health check need to fill in
so excited bet your pleased :)
Yeah I read understanding social work by neil thompson only few chapters on values, skills and what social work is? I recommend reading headlines and gurdian the society section bit also be very reflective on your self, in my interview I was very nervous and was shaking it is very relaxing. I would watch truth about adoption on i player and kids in care and protecting our children as i find that more intresting then reading about it.
good luck
Anyone looking for accomodation for September for plymouth get in touch as I am looking for house mates to get a house together be good if other people on the MA social work course wanna find accomodation :)
claire
All I can say is don't use Chris Shorey to get your accommodation - I know so many people who have been with them and have had disasters.
Better off going privately I reckon. Try the Plymouth Herald website, gumtree etc. There are always loads of shared houses being advertised.
thanks
Hi guys, just to let you know that I got in. I'm so relieved and soooooo happy. I'm still pinching myself.
Well done
Hiya, I am hoping you guys are still checking this forum as I would really like some advice! I have got an interview this week at Plymouth and am really nervous! I was hoping you could give me an idea of how the day goes and what to expect?? Thanks :)
Hiya
I have my interview this week and am really nervous! I was wondering whether you could tell me anything about the day and what to expect?? Any help or advice would be really really helpful. Thanks! :)
Hia Missg87, the interview is in two parts. The first part, you watch a video and then have a group discussion about it. It's very chilled. The next part is the individual interview. It's just a chance to sell yourself. Don't forget to draw on your experience, be it life or work. Good luck and I hope you'll get in.
Good luck just be your self
Hi guys
Thanks for the messages. I had my interview today and have been offered a conditional place so fingers crossed!
