I am bewildered by this paragraph: By the time she was 14 the girl was being repeatedly used 'as a sexual toy' by her father but this was not uncovered despite seven visits by social services. What exactly did they expect Social Workers to find during these visits to "uncover" that the girl was used as a "sexual toy"??????? There might be more than meets the eye in this case, and maybe there would have been grounds for care proceedings on grounds of physical abuse. I am working in a number of cases of suspected sexual abuse and it is extremely difficult to prove that abuse has taken place without a disclosure by the child. But they don't say that in the papers, do they? I found it interesting that home education features in this story. Oh, dear! But try to do what they suggest and take a harder line when you "suspect" but cannot "evidence" abuse and the same paper starts jumping up and down that poor innocent people are being victimized!

did'nt you know we are supposed to see through walls and be mind readers as well RP?

Admittedly there are some errors but sexual abuse is so difficult to prove unless the child discloses, i guess in some respect she did disclose but on a social networking site........ i dont think i can bare to read anymore ignorant readers comments! Its like some people think that we become social workers because we really fancy making a mistake that could contribute to ruining someones life!

New social workers not equipped with crystal balls BEFORE they leave university - shocker!

Read all about it in the Daily Hate.

I've tried leaving comments numerous times on the daily mail comments section in response to readers who make comments such as 'once again social workers do nothing/leave the child with parents etc.' My comments have been purely to try and better inforn readers without saying that i am a SW. My comments have never been printed. The DM simply don't want their readers to know the truth.

Lets hope these people have the time to open their minds and watch the dispatchers: undercover social worker on channel 4, monday, 8pm. I am hopeful that this will show a different side to children and families team...in that they are overworked, under staffed and have too much bloody paperwork!
