I would not like to comment directly on this story as I am aware their are people grieving for this poor person however, I am not surprised by it. I am awar of quite a few Social Workers who's drinking has increased due to the stress of their jobs. I am also aware of quite a few Social Workers who have to have second jobs due to debt. In fact I think by now we all do. Look at the postings on this site. We are all being worked into an early grave with very little support from central government and it is a disgrace. How dare they argue over a pay rise and belittle our work. Shame on you who make the policies.
That is a very frightening story Muriel - eight bottles? that's a serious amount of booze. Surely her manager would have realised there were problems??
here here Lins. It must be seriously damaging social workers' health to be doing two jobs - especially when one is as stressful as social work. I think it's disgusting that you are forced to have to take 2 jobs to make ends meet when social work is such a vital role - and one that many of us couldn't do - myself included.
