By way of introduction, I wanted to let this group know about a piece on Nick Clegg's website where he is asking members of the public to suggest laws to be repealed. I hope there may be some here who would like to read it and who would want to contribute their views.
The website is of serious intent and the comments adequately reflect many of the underlying issues and challenges facing the child protection aspect of social care in the UK today.
My view is that it is the policies and policy-makers who are failing to understand people's needs, rather than any inherent failure of the social services framework per se. If this is the case, would this not suggest a reappraisal of those policies, in lieu of a more pragmatic approach?
(Thank you).
