Dear colleagues,
I am asking desperately for help in filling the application forms within Local Authorities, as I have been so unsuccessful in the last couple of months. I have asked for feedback from different boroughs which I have applied for: London Borough of Camden, Borough of Oxford, Westminster, etc with no reply yet, I am still waiting to hear and perhaps I will comeback to see what was wrong.
I have applied recently within NHS jobs for a couple of jobs, unfortunately only unsuccesful applications, Just wondering what's wrong?
Please give me some help!
I have been recently for an interview as Home Care Assistant, for a nursing home and the Manager offered me the job.
Just asking what's the point I have learnt so hard at University,l I have done the Return to Social Work Practice with London Borough of Barnet, I have passed an aptitude test to proof to GSCC I am entitled to be on the register, as I was trained in an European Country, I have done voluntary work within Elderly people as well with Children and Families, I was willing to undertake a further voluntary role within a different Borough, but I have been told after 5 months of waiting to be accommodated that the team is suffering changes and they feel very sorry but they cannot offer me the voluntary role any more.
Again, asking, what's worth studying and struggling to do unpaid work, when the only job I have been offered is Home Care Assistant after all my struggles with Local Authorities application forms, registered with numerous agencies, being proactive, having a consistent collection of clear CRBS, and the list can goes on!
If any of you feels with me and want to give me some help, I will be so grateful and I will appreciate!
Yours Failthfully,
Riccisw
You need to be more specific with your query regarding application forms. Nobody on here can help you 'fill in application forms'...obviously only you can do that. But if you have specific queries regarding possible content then you can try asking about that.
My general advice for application forms is:
- Make sure you address all the essential criteria and as much of the desired criteria as possible
- Give specific examples of work that you have done that meets each criteria
- Be succinct rather than wordy. Bullet point it if necessary, and I'd suggest laying out the bullet points in the same order that the job criteria is laid out in (makes it easier for the person doing the shortlisting and I feel increases your chances)
- Describe past experience and additional skills that might bring 'added value' to the post
- Be positive when listing your personal attributes (e.g. don't say "I try to be organised and dynamic", state "I am organised and dynamic" etc.
- If relevant list positive feedback that you might have received for aspects of your work (e.g "In 2009 I single handedly wrote and ran a training course on XXX which was so well received I was asked to roll it out in partner organisations" etc)
- Check and double check your spellings and grammar, and make sure it is legible and well laid out.
Hi.
First of all thanks for spending time reading my desperate message. I have difficulties spelling clearly what I have done in my previous roles, and still I am not clear why my applications are not passing the short-listing level!
Not sure if it's legal to ask someone who has been successful Personal Statement ? It's just me that I have the feeling that jobs are already arranged within the teams or what's wrong?
I am willing to send you a copy of my personal statement and if you have time please let me know if you can have a look over it,
Yours Sincerely,
You can also forward it to myself if you wish - I have experience in Shortlisting.
