again this September?
I filled one out last year but never received my magazines (I wasn't that bothered at first as I was still getting one from work but they've updated the staff list and I'm not getting one any more).
If you are I'll hang around the common room at the begning of september mugging the year ones.
I shall ask our subscription people and get back to you

Hi Popeye
Unfortunately there are fewer free subscriptions to Community Care magazine than in the past. There are still some available but I think the criteria for receiving a copy has changed. The best thing you can do is ring our circulation department directly at 01444 475600.
However if you do have difficulties accesing a copy - remember that everyhting from the magazine (and more) goes on to the Community Care website so you can always access your information online.
Thanks
Clare (Editor)
Thank you!
I know I can get it online, and I have been, but I'm getting ready for my placement and I remember how useful it was to have one to read at lunch time etc.
Will give them a shout now.
Thank you.
I totally understand. As the web editor of course I'm going to advocate the greatness of the website but the magazine is good to read through at lunch or on the way home and has far better pics than the web! Between us we are the perfect pair hope you get on alright but give me a yell if you have difficulties. Ed
Sorry before I frighten you popeye, I mean the mag and web are the perfect pair not thee and me although I'm sure you're lovely
You know you told me to come back to you if I had any problems........ (bet you regret that now ;-)) but I did what the lovely (sounding) man said on the phone and I've still not got a copy coming :-(.
I presume you're not giving them to students anymore but can I ask why? Surely the ones to be getting it free should be the students (i.e. we're skint!) and from a business point of view wouldn't you get more revenue as word would have spread and we'd have the cash to pay for the subscription!
Right, I've had my moan, I'm off to pay for my subscription.
Hi popeye
I totally understand where you're coming from. Unfortunately it wasn't a decision made my me to lop students off the circulation BUT the argument is that in this current financial climate (publishers are hit along with the rest of the country) we have to reduce our printing costs and unfortunately students do not contribute financially in terms of advertising BUT they are more likely to have the access to the net and be able to access www.communitycare.co.uk
Our research into demographics frequently has told us that students are more likely to use the web than other groups in the social care sector.
However, I do offer my apoligies as having been a student myself, I know how difficult it is to amke ends meet with the cost of books, travel etc.
I wish you luck on your course and hope you can access all the information you need on www.communitycare.co.uk
Ed.
hi i dont mean to butt in here but i imagine that most students access Community cCre via the web because we cannot afford to buy the magazine. demographics never tell us the whole story do they.
cheers lizzer.
I've finally subscibed to it . I'm working part-time now so decided I could spare the money - I prefer reading the magazine to reading it on the website, but it's hard to find in shops so I've had to 'borrow' as many copies as possible from people who get it on my placement!
~ The race goes not always to the swift, but to those who keep on running ~
I've been wondering about this too. In the past I've gotten all my copies from Social Workers at the team where I was before I started uni, but that isn't possible now.
Does anyone know how much it is to subscribe?
It's £45 a year for students. To set up a subscription call 01444 445566
Thanks Simeon2, you just answered my next question.
