Community Care ran a campaign last year called A Life Like Any Other promoting the rights of people with learning disabilities. www.tinyurl.com/2myz4x

This week it has been short listed for a big media award and we hope this will help raise the profile of the issues concerned further - namely that people with learning disabilities are given more choice, control and independence.

Valuing People Now, released before Christmas, is the government's attempt to meet those aims. www.dh.gov.uk/en/Consultations/Liveconsultations/DH_081014

Have you had a chance to read it? What do you think?

The consultation closes on 28 March. We'd like to pull together your responses - however brief - and submit them.

This has got to have teeth - statutory teeth to force authorities to finally give people with learning disabilities equal treatment.
