Well, I thought I had better dive in before I get cold feet! Is there anyone else within social work who is trying to juggle the demands and challenges of the job, with a faith/ spiritual search of whatever kind, but if you are you will know what I mean....you might be withing a particular faith, you might be "holistic" and inspired by eg Eckhardt Tolle (The Power of Now.) or any one of a number of "teachers."
I feel a bit schizophrenic sometimes as this aspect of life is so important to me but I rarely if ever hear anyone mention it. Is the profession now so paranoia inducing that spirituality has taken over from sexuality in terms of taboos and unmentionables? I have felt an urge for an age to "come out", just in case anyone else out there would like to have a space to discuss, share, and I suppose debate, life, the universe and everything as a human being who believes they are have an identity beyond the mundane one of tick box, tick tock reality. If there is anyone interested in this topic, please put your head above the parapet, anonymously of course. The intention is not to win converts to any particular path, but to acknowledge the journey. It just might be a help to do this.
I would like to see topics on how spirituality helps to cope, with the job, if it does.
Or does it add a level of challenge and frustration? Does it inspire you and keep you going....? Whatever, it is all grist to the mill. You are welcome if this topic interests you for any reason.
