OPENING OF NEW PRIORY SCHOOL CREATES 40 JOBS IN NORTHWOLD
Priory Education Services, part of the Priory Group, is to recruit up to 40 new employees to join the existing team at its specialist school for children and young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and learning difficulties including autism.
Following a recent relocation to larger premises, Sheridan School in Northwold has expanded its provision for children with specialist education needs, to enable educational placements for up to 40 students.
The school will initially recruit 40 people, including both full and part time roles, with a further 40 roles to be created over the next two years.
Sheridan School is a specialist school offering an integrated programme of education, care and therapy for young people aged 10 to 16. The school provides care for young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, with associated Iearning difficulties including autistic spectrum disorders.
The school recently relocated from its former location in Southburgh into extensive accommodation and grounds on the site of the former ‘Comfort Inn’ on Thetford Road in Northwold, Norfolk.
The change in location means that Sheridan School can now accommodate up to 26 residential students and offer 14 day places for students within an hour’s drive time of the school.
The school is to officially open on 2 November, with students expected to move in during October half term.
Priory Education Services is the UK's leading independent provider of specialist education and care for children and young people aged four to 35 with Asperger's Syndrome (AS), autistic spectrum disorders (ASD), behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD) and specific learning difficulties associated with dyslexia.
Bobby Evans, Principal at Sheridan School said: “We will be helping young people with special educational needs to achieve the best possible outcomes through providing individually tailored education, care and therapy programmes in a safe, positive and structured environment.’
“The expansion and increase in qualified staff has enabled us to broaden our intake of students to now also accommodate children and young people with learning difficulties including autistic spectrum disorders. Following discussions with a range of local authorities we know there to be a lack of appropriate provision within this sector in the region.
“We hope to be allowed to integrate ourselves into the local community and contribute positively to the parish of Northwold.”
Sheridan School is to hold a Recruitment Open Day on Wednesday 28 October, session times 9.30am-12.30pm, 1.30pm-4.30pm and 6pm-9pm.
Anyone interested in attending the recruitment open day, should contact Sue Purvis on 01953 850494 or email suepurvis@priorygroup.com
