NEW SCOTLAND CARE HOME OPENS ITS DOORS TO THE PUBLIC
The Priory Group’s first care home for older people in Scotland, Berelands House in Prestwick, is opening its doors to show the local community the fantastic facilities available.
Berelands House is a purpose built nursing home with beds for 63 residents needing nursing or dementia nursing care. The home is part of the first phase of the company’s new development plans for older people’s services. Its opening will create much needed jobs for the local community.
The home on Boydfield Court provides nursing and dementia services in single, en-suite accommodation finished to the highest standard. There is also a choice of lounges and dining areas and an enclosed landscaped garden.
The home’s dementia floor utilises the very latest research in dementia care focussing on a person’s abilities. Dementia-signposting will assist with orientation and a reminiscence room is a key focal point.
All residents have access to carefully planned activities and a wide range of professionals including a hairdresser, chiropodist, optician and GP.
The Priory Group also has specialist care homes for adults under 65 years providing care for those requiring neuro-rehabilitation or who have complex physical and learning disabilities.
Sharon Butler, managing director of Priory Group Care Homes Division said: “We are investing in older people’s services over the next few years. Berelands House has been well received by healthcare professionals, particularly in light of the nursing and dementia nursing services it provides for local people in Prestwick. We are very proud to be a part of the local community and look forward to welcoming many visitors to our new home on 18th March.
“The Open Day will give people the opportunity to tour the home, meet the team and ask any questions they may have about the care available.”
Alzheimer Scotland will also have representatives on hand to offer advice and information.
The open afternoon/evening is on 18th March between 4pm and 8.30pm and refreshments will be served.
