Adullam Homes Housing Association Limited has announced the launch of two significant new services that will help vulnerable people to continue to live independently in Bury.
In partnership with Bury Council, the new services will offer floating support to young people, teenage parents and single people who have previously been or who are at risk of being homeless, so as to enable them to maintain independent accommodation.
The first new service will provide support to people living in their own homes but also helps with issues such as obtaining more suitable accommodation; budgeting and debt management; claiming benefits; advice and support around health, education, training and employment.
In addition, this service will ensure individuals get access to other appropriate support services with the region; helping individuals to tackle fuel poverty or poor housing conditions; or to resolve neighbour nuisance and antisocial behaviour problems.
A second new service, Matt 25, a social enterprise scheme run by Adullam Homes, will operate as a recruitment agency providing training and employment opportunities for service users who have completed a programme of support, and who are ready to look for work. Matt 25 will be working closely with the team in Bury to ensure those people accessing the services will have support to develop the skills they will need to find employment and as such, reduce their reliance on benefits.
Elaine Sharkey, Director of Supported Housing, Adullam Homes Housing Association, said: “We are looking forward to working with our colleagues in Bury to providing really excellent services for vulnerable people who are experiencing a difficult time in their lives.”
Anyone needing the type of support outlined above, or who knows someone who would benefit from such support should contact Bury’s Central Access Point or the Adullam Floating Support team.
