  • Re: Kinship Carers

The issue is not about financial gain or not loving the children its about being able to have the choice and if these children need stability and someone their for them maybe the last thing someone wants to do is go out and leave these children until they feel settled and safe, and how can anyone in...

  • Re: Kinship Carers

Sorry I have read and unable to quote the bit I wish to use, but how old is the grandmother? and how many children did she have placed with her? I feel its amazing to be told to go out and get a job, and if there is a disability involved also then I would say trying to get a job is almost impossible...

  • Re: Kinship Carers

I feel that if it saves the children or whom ever else the informal carer is caring for the heartache of being away from there family, why should they not be paid it costs money, people have to leave there jobs and can not be expected to live on thin air, It would also save the government money and help...

  • Re: Are unqualified staff dangerous?

No they are not, what is dangerous is an individual persons unwillingness to learn and move on, we are all unqualified to start with and we are taught by the people who know best the service user and their informal support. By listening and hearing what a person wants we can learn alot. The only reason...

  • Re: The Victoria Climbie Inquiry - five years later

Hi Daci, Yes, they did to some extent garner the views of children and young people...and promptly ignored them. You may find the following illuminating: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23375298-details/4%20million%20children%20at%20risk%20of%20being%20stigmatised%20by%20nationwide%20'problem...

  • Re: i've asked b4.gross hypocrisy and no-one can explain it.

Hi get1, I can't speak on behalf of the trainer but perhaps I can leave you some food for thought. The fact is, parents do not have to be as good at parenting as adopters or foster carers. Or, to put it another way, adopters and foster carers have to demonstrate that they surpass the average parent...

Little Boho, 'Presumably this is the same Tim Laughton who, with his colleage Peter Bottomley, posed Benny Hill-style with some models dressed as "saucy nurses" in a calendar. http://grayee.blogspot.com/2007/10/tory-mps-saucy-snaps-demean-nurses.html ' Really? I like him already. Seriously...

  • Re: unaccompanied asylum seeking children reform programme

The government seems keen to get them out of here as soon as they arrive. I think they plan to look at abolishing giving under 18s discretionary leave to remain and send them back more quickly. Out of sight, out of mind. They began with dispersing adult asylum seekers a few years ago, now children are...

  • Re: split in children's and adults' services

I think it will probably be a few years before we can know for sure whether the split was right, but it's certainly ironic that the government's coming out with all this whole family stuff within a few years of the Children Act 2004. People always said that even within traditional social services...
