Nurses may have care leavers’ places

Nurses may benefit in Wandsworth, where the opening of a hostel
for black care leavers has been blocked.

Neighbours opposed the purpose-built eight-bed hostel after
learning the National Association for the Care and Resettlement of
Offenders was involved. The project was funded by the Housing
Corporation.

David Mellor, MP for Putney, has since proposed housing nurses
from the local hospital. The Housing Corporation which funded the
project is opposed to his option, but conceded that local hostility
means the placement of young people is unlikely.
