Two publications on commissioning services for people with
physical disabilities were launched this week aimed at promoting
joint health and social services commissioning and developing
innovative services.
The King’s Fund Centre, the Prince of Wales Advisory Group on
Disability and the Living Options Partnership launched the
publications at a conference, billed as the first at a national
level, in Birmingham this week.
The Power to Change looks at planning to meet needs and the
contracting process. Improving Disability Services, looks more
in-depth at practice issues and involving users.
‘There has been a plethora of literature on community care but
very little attention has been paid to the implications of the
reforms on meeting the needs of people with physical and sensory
impairments,’ according to Improving Disability Services.
