Readers want more cash for staff to boost excellence

Nearly nine out of 10 visitors to Community Care’s website
believe the new Social Care Institute for Excellence (Scie) will
not be effective unless the government takes action to solve the
financial and recruitment problems in social care.

Ministers have allocated £2 million to the institute, which
will be established this summer, but 89 per cent of people who
responded to the online poll said it cannot work well without
investment to tackle under-resourcing of local government.

Only 11 per cent said Scie would be effective under the current
    funding levels.

This week’s question is based on this year’s Budget.
