Westminster told to improve services to older people from ethnic minorities

Social services in Westminster needs to develop a broader range
of distinctive services for black and minority ethnic clients
according to a Social Services Inspectorate report on services for
older people.

The inspectorate also recommends that the department use the
conclusions of a staff census to recruit more employees from a
representative background. It urges the department to do more to
improve joint working with housing colleagues at operational
level.

But overall, the SSI concluded that the council offered “a very
good assessment and care management service and high quality
services”.
