Unmarried fathers to get same rights as married counterparts

Unmarried fathers who sign their child’s birth register will
have the same parental rights as married fathers, it was agreed
during the second reading of the Adoption and Children Bill in the
House of Commons.

The bill is planned to go to a special select committee in June
which will then report back to the Commons unless a general
election is called before then.
