More Scots want to foster

Scots are more likely to consider becoming foster parents than
people in the rest of the UK, according to a new survey by the
National Foster Care Association.

In a UK phone survey of 1,000 people, one in five Scots – twice
the national average – said they would consider fostering. Yet
Scotland had the lowest awareness of a shortage of foster parents
with just 4 out of 10 acknowledging the problem compared to the
UK-average of 50 per cent.

Scottish research has shown that 2,000 children a year do not
get the help they need due to the shortage of foster parents north
of the border.
