Is Laming inquiry impartial?

More than 70 per cent of visitors to Community Care’s website
believe the Laming inquiry panel investigating the death of
Victoria Climbie is not independent enough.

Only 29 per cent of people who responded to the online poll said
they are not concerned about the impartiality of the panel headed
by Lord Laming, a former chief inspector of social services.

This week’s question asks: Do you think the ministerial
reshuffle will be positive for social care?

John Hutton retained his position as health minister, but
responsibility for social care was taken over by Jacqui Smith,
former junior education minister. There were also changes at the
Home Office – see news story on page 3.
