New Deal tips ‘unbalanced’

Independent career advice during the early stages of the New
Deal for 18-24-year-olds places too much emphasis on finding a job
rather than planning for a career, findings published last week
reveal.

The research, commissioned by the National Council for Voluntary
Organisations, also highlights a lack of detailed information on
the options for young people under the New Deal, and a failure to
assess participants’ basic skills.
