Chancellor promises review of services to children at risk

Chancellor Gordon Brown has announced there will be a review
across government departments of all services for children at
risk.

He said the review would be designed “to ensure that in the next
spending round the children in greatest need, wherever they live,
have the services that can best meet their needs, so that no child
is left out or left behind”.

He also repeated the government’s commitment to lift a million
children out of poverty, and promised it would be central to his
Budget next year.
