Confidential information on children found at rear of offices

Confidential papers from Brent social services department were
found at the rear of council offices in Wembley High Road.

Around 20 forms from the department in north London, included
confidential information about children referred to the authority
and included sexual abuse allegations.

The papers, which were handed in to Hendon Times newspapers,
have since been returned to the council, which claims it has strict
procedures for storing and destroying case files and notes.

A statement from Brent Council, said a thorough investigation
would be launched into the fiasco, and it pledged to review its
procedures to ensure that all information about service users
remains confidential.
