Social care to play key role in measuring service success

Social care is to play a leading part in a radical new pilot to
link government policies with measurable local outcomes following
an agreement between the Scottish executive and the Convention of
Scottish Local Authorities.

Local outcome agreements will be signed in 13 local authorities
specifically targeting children’s services and education. A
further 12 councils will draw on funds from the £90 million
better neighbourhood services budget to introduce innovative ways
of improving services in Scotland’s most deprived
communities.

If this first pilot is a success then local outcome agreements
will be introduced for every government policy in every council
area. Those local authorities aiming to improve children’s
services are Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Fife, Highland, Midlothian,
South Ayrshire and Stirling.
