Praise for foster care

Fostering services run by Aberdeenshire Council have been highly
commended in an independent audit of services.

The council commissioned the audit for the UK National Standards
for Foster Care, launched in Scotland in 1999. At that time, the
Scottish Office urged authorities to carry out assessments based on
25 national standards and 270 components.

Aberdeenshire is thought to be one of only two authorities to
have an external audit. It found that the council had met all 25 of
the defined national standards for foster care.
