Government to be lobbied about learning disability plans

People with learning difficulties are to deliver a letter to
prime minister Tony Blair about the ‘Valuing People’ white paper,
writes John Pring.

Delegates at a conference organised by Central England People
First decided to express their concerns about the
government’s plans. They believe the government needs to
provide more money to pay for the changes.

* Delegates at the conference in Northampton were furious at the
government’s continuing failure to provide them with
accessible versions of Valuing People.

Organisations that ordered accessible copies of the learning
disability white paper in April were frustrated that they have
still not received their copies nearly four months later.
