Report points to Warrington progress

Warrington Council is making progress in
shaping its services to protect and promote the independence of
vulnerable people, according to a joint review.

The report by the Audit Commission and the
Social Services Inspectorate says the department’s individual
assessment and planning processes and practices are generally
sound, with particularly good practice in mental health
services.

But it adds that demand pressures in some
service areas, particularly older people, are leading to delays in
assessment and reviewing of need.

The report recommends that a rapid response
team that is available out of hours be established and that the
team has access to an in-house home care team. It should also:
“Develop services that are preventive and promote independence
through rehabilitation.”
