Government consults on role of children`s rights director

The government has issued draft regulations to establish the
scope of the children’s rights director’s role in England.

Roger Morgan, who was appointed last year, will examine all the
services for children regulated by the National Care Standards
Commission.

The government has resisted calls for a children’s commissioner
with more wide-ranging powers as has been established in Wales.
