Aberdeenshire appoints new director

Aberdeenshire council has appointed Colin Mackenzie as their new
director of social work and housing.

Since last year, Mackenzie has been acting up in the post on a
job share basis after Margaret Wells left to take up a senior post
with NHS Lothian in Edinburgh.

A social work graduate of Glasgow University, Mackenzie went on
to work for Tayside Regional Council in Dundee before being
appointed Grampian regional council’s social work manager
(handicapped and special services) in 1982.

Prior to his new appointment, since 1996 Mackenzie had been
Aberdeenshire council’s head of social work with
responsibility for mental health, learning difficulties and
criminal justice.
